races

its the busiest week of the year in galway - the races. went to have a look and the horse we bet on was winning but then the jockey fell off. i ask you.

had some good craic over the weekend - sponsered drinks from guesthouse guests.
is going to be mad on the streets - had better head home and hide.

day off

another nice day off, this time it was raining on and off so i managed to walk to the beach at salthill-and then promptly walked back. my poor feet are really taking srainw ith all this walking around, blisters, hard spots, dry chunks peeling off, super! but i am going to remedy that with a trip to the bodyshop.

finally went to a massage/pysiotherapist to deal with my 3 week old whiplash and general knotty back from housework. she isolated the problem causing my arm to numb itself - or at least go tingly and wake me up at night - seems i have a brick in my shoulder as well, and generally am compensating for my wrist with my back. but she was brilliant and a good combination of aromatherapy massage and really sports injury massage, feel great hurrah!

she also has friends working for a film company and is going to mention me to them...
going to watch the aquatic life with steve zissou now with kylee on her lap top.

festivals

After bumming around at the rowing club - the official venue for the film festival, i managed to be in the same room as matt dillon, well i didn't see him but he was there. made some conatcts sort of and looking ahead to enter our documentary into the sligo short film festival and the dublin screenies. plunged into the arts festival straight after the film festival, and spending horrendous amounts of money just to see yann tiersen who wrote the soundtrack to amelia - my boss can't cover me so i'm paying a fellow accomodation assisant to sit and watch tv for four hours. and minimum wage here is highest. all for the sake of our special actually going out to dinenr evening and music extravaganza. had such hot days we beat the mediterraneans temperatures. i went horse riding and swam in the sea - am now having trouble turning corners as i walk as you use your inner thigh muscles. have a picture i;d like to post up but this computer won't take me device.

days off

had a fabtastic time on wednsday and thursday - my two days off - i went to cork and then through to glengariff little port town to visit vicky from SA. stayed on the catamaran with her and her skipper beau. drank cider and played scrabble till early hours (she beat me). then back to cork to stay with mom's cousins, they live 20 minutes outside city in little port town called cobh (pronounced cove) with a cathedral on a hill above tall colourful houses. very sweet - fed me roast chickem and i watched my second cousins wedding video. i'm welcome there any time, and i would love to go back and hang out there with them some more. back in galway for film festival - hopefully i'll meet some interesting people, and then the arts festival should keep me busy till august - when i think its the edinburg film fest - and i might meet up with lin there cos she is on her merry way to inkland as we speak - can't believe it.
