3rd last day in galway

hi - sorry to burden you the reader with all those descriptions last blog.

now, it may be raining, the blues might be playing in this here internet cafe, george bush may be a texan baddie "in this here great country of ours" and the american guests can only sustain an interest in my country for five seconds "you're from south africa, really? wow we have been there/know people from there/are you from johannesburg?...this is great coffee"

but i'm on my way to get a boerewors roll at the local market stand - must ask them where they get it from in SA cos it is fantastic - and i may be slightly hung over in one eye - my right eye which ahs astigmatism always goes so blurry when i drink - and this morning its like sore, shame

what was i saying - oh yes it was supposed to be my last big night in galway and then my boss springs it on my at 9pm last night - you're on the breakfast shift with me! thanks - well guess maybe we are similar in some ways cos i now suspect she is sometimes just as scared of telling me things as i am of telling her things - or asking her - which i did about dublin but hey like only on the tuesday evening for god's sake of course she would say no - and i ignored the fact that my horoscope said to ask her on saterday.

ahhh so i am fierce excited about france - and just hope i keept enough of my irish accent to impress the family when i get back - or annoy them - i can just see nathan now saying - clea stop saying, "Sure, its a fine day" "sure, i'm gasping for some tea"

hmmm

bit incoherent this morning - well had a good night anyway - not really hungover - not really - fancy dress/ryans birthday etc - so my sort of farewell is a lunch tomorrow at richardsons - better get my withnail and i dvd back from ryan before i leave. fianlyl took some pictures of people - so you will think all my friends are weird as they are all dressed up for halloween,

cheers
clea

sunday

i tell you what, sunday was a crappy day

literally unfortunately - a gues shat in their bed.

nevermind the fact that the one washing machine was leaking, the tumbledryer had died, and it was pouring with rain.

and for some reason i just couldn't bring myself to ask my boss for wednesday off - cos like i usually can't get it off but i wanted it off this week so i could go to dublin and see patrick clarke try run a mile in unde a mintue. will have to ask her at lunch today - its my last chance.

wandered otuside today to run errands and it began to hail. i was saoked in five seconds and ran back inside, resolving to continue packing - then the sky was blue.

more stuff

i actually had more to say last time blogged i just forgot.

firstly thou - i had a great day at the aran islands - the western most point of europe. inishmore is the largest one by far and i caught a ferry over - hired a bike and clycled to a fort - had my spar sandwich and then cycled along the inland road with an old irish man on a rusty bike complaining about the cars and buses together.
yes, i clea, got on a bike - its true you don't forget how - and did a 10 k or so cycle - exercise - on a bike. i then acceidentally said to this old irish man "thanks for the ride together" now "ride" in ireland means shag, etc. which of course i knew and had been reminded about before - so i was a little embarrassed and quickly cycled off down the hill.

what i didn't mention last blog - is that i have been doing a bit of steam cleaning int he ktichen. ie scrapinga nd steaming and scrubbing grease out of say, extractor fans or kitchen cupboards (which are called presses here). so as i was standing on that chair enveloped in clouds of steam with bits of grease dripping onto my arms, I thought you know i am domestic worker. (i also thought - this kitchen clearly hasn't been so thouroughly cleaned in years) and at the end of that day - after i muttered something apologetic about the bits of grease still splattered to the now relatively shiny black surfaces - my boss said i had done a good job. and it made all the difference. i'm never taking house work for granted again - say thank you to your domestic worker.

peace out

then i went to dublin to apply for my visa to france afetr franticalyl getting together all the papers i needed -luckily it all worked out - so i'm going to france!!! it'll probably rain the entire time but i'll just wander round the louvre or sit in a cafe or something. oh for some wine!

leaving on the 3rd nov. then back in dublin till the 14th - ticket to manchester - have the option of making it to brighton byt hat nigth to watch tracey chapman as lynne is going to thailand and can't use her ticket anymore. oh dear bit of a rush that.

pretty sick of work - but just knowing its almost over is encouragement to just see it through.
